5 tips for better focus with the Pomodoro technique

Work 25 minutes, rest 5: simple yet effective. Here's how to get the most out of Pomodoro.

The Pomodoro technique splits work into short sessions (usually 25 minutes) separated by short breaks. Here are 5 tips to make it work even better.

1. Pick one task per session

Before starting the timer, write down one concrete task. The clearer the goal, the easier it is to focus.

2. Turn off notifications

Put your phone in Do Not Disturb. A single notification is enough to break your focus.

3. Take a real break

During the 5-minute break, stand up, drink water and look into the distance. Don't spend it scrolling social media.

4. Adjust to your rhythm

25 minutes isn't a hard rule. Some people focus best with 45 minutes of work and a 10-minute break. Experiment and find yours.

5. Track your progress

Logging your sessions each day helps you spot habits and improve. Timer apps like Leap Focus include daily, weekly and monthly stats.

Happy focusing!
